Hooray! Hooray! It's A Holi-Holiday

Tomorrow, we're heading off to Cornwall on our holidays. We're staying in a village about five miles from Bude in an A-frame lodge.

This will be the fourth year that we've stayed here and we love it. It's a very small site with only ten lodges and two cottages, but it has some great facilities, four fishing lakes, indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, spa hot tub, tennis court, games room, outdoor play area and spa and beauty treatments. It's dog friendly too, so Archie comes with us. It's in a quiet secluded valley with woodland, open spaces and nature trails so he's well catered for.

Fingers crossed that we get some good weather while we're there, but there's plenty to do even if we don't.

This year, wi-fi has been installed so I should have access to my blog. I must admit that I like to leave technology behind when I go on holiday so I won't be checking in every day, but I may have chance to send a postcard or two while we're there.

    1. Thank you. It's lovely not having the computer calling me while I'm away, though I'm sure the teenagers will be very pleased that wi-fi is now installed.

  5. Those A frame holiday homes are great, I saw them for the first time in Australia 9 years ago and had to have a look round. The facilities sound good as well, lots for a small site.

    1. The A frame lodges are great. There's eight of them on the site and two lodges of a different style, but we always stay in these as they overlook the lakes, we like where on the site they're situated. The facilities are fabulous and everywhere's spotlessly clean. It's not a cheap holiday but we think it's worth what we pay for it. We've been able to save some money this year by going out of school holidays with Eleanor now having finished her exams but we'll be back to sky high prices again next year.

    1. Thank you. I'm hoping that as we're travelling out of Leeds, we'll be ok. I think the roads will be jam packed the other way with people coming to see the Tour de France.

  7. We definitely try and spend less time on technology - even if not a complete break when we're on holiday. More time for knitting that way :) Wave at us as you whizz down the M5 and have a lovely trip.

  8. Have a great trip, my husband would love the fishing!! It's great that you get to take Archie, we always worry about our cats when we travel even though we have a great friend who takes care of them.

    1. Thank you, we will. Mick, Daniel and Eleanor all enjoy fishing so it's great for them. We always used to leave our cat in a cattery, it was a lovely place, so much so that we now leave our bunnies there.

    1. Thank you, I'm looking forward to spending lots of quality family time together. This will be the last time Daniel comes with us so I'm determined to make the most of it. The place is fabulous, this will be our fourth visit, a testament to how much we enjoy it there.

  13. Have a great holiday!! Will you still be able to get email? Isn't it strange that you are staying in an A-frame lodge, as our DD and family stayed in one in Bendigo over the last 3 days, (It's school hols here for 2 weeks), and we popped up to see them for a day. Enjoy Cornwall and take care.

    1. Thank you. Yes, I can still get email, the internet connection is working fine. This is the fourth time we've stayed here, yet they've only just had wi-fi installed so we were without internet all together before.

  17. Well jel here. We still have 2 and a half weeks until freedom, and we may not get a long holiday this year. If I don't make it to the seaside please could you live for me;
    1. Fish and chips by the sea eaten from the paper.
    2. A pile of stones made on or by the beach so that you can see the wave sin the background
    3. Sunset over the water. You can sip a cool wine spritzer while you wait for it to set, as well please.
    4. Fishing nets. With or without a fisherman, but preferably with some brightly coloured floats attached.
    5. A very good time had by all with happy smiles and no problems.

Bless you all, and have a good time! ;0)

    1. I hope you do manage to make it to the seaside so that you can do all these lovely things yourself, but just in case, I'll make sure I do them all for you, and we'll definitely all have a good time. Thank you.

  18. I really like the look of these lodges! we have never been to cornwall but it is definitely on the list for the future. I try not to use wifi when I am on holiday, but it is very tempting. I hope you have a great time Jo! :)

    1. We only discovered Cornwall in 2009, we've been every year, except one, since. I like to get away from technology when I'm on holiday, but as you say, it's quite tempting when it's available. It's funny, I didn't miss it at all when it wasn't available. Thank you, we're enjoying our holiday so far.
